Junior Docent School Program (JDSP)

This program has the purpose of including children in the world of museology and preparing them in analysis of iconic artworks.

Art gallery

In 2020 Junior Docent School Program was canceled due to COVID 19. During the spring of 2021 the Prince of Peace School of Milwaukee participated in this program virtually like many other schools in Milwaukee County.

Participants were third, fourth and fifth graders that in a “normal” scenario” at the end of the program would be attending to an in-person graduation at the impressive Milwaukee Art Museum designed by architect Santiago Calatrava.

Use virtual tools

Many of these children have never visited a museum and, under the circumstances, virtual tools became powerful allies to contextualize students in the Museum.

Jack Glavin and Gabriela Bustos from Pluris XR in a collaboration to JDSP-MAM, created a virtual space that allowed students to attend synchronously and remotely to the virtual graduation of JDSP in the spring of 2021.

Multi-user virtual world

The virtual gallery for the art exhibition of the POP school students in MAM’s JDSP, was installed in a multi-user virtual world, as well as a 360º virtual tour in Roundme. The experience of these students was unique, fun and unforgettable, as well as for the Docents of the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Art Virtual Gallery

In the Art Program conducted at the Prince of Peace School by Professor Bustos, it was decided to use virtual tools as possibilities of art exploration in collaboration with the Milwaukee Art Museum, Sarah Ozurumba, Coordinator of the JDSP at MAM and SETON Catholic Schools.
